Personal Influence Zones (PI Zones) are essential to the Personal Reinvention framework and the Ultimate Enterprise Model (UEM). At their core, PI Zones address a central question: Why do people behave the way they do? By dissecting the origins of habits—both commendable and detrimental—PI Zones illustrate the foundational forces behind individual and collective behavior. Understanding these zones allows influential figures to act decisively and effectively.
Personal Influence Zones Illustration
Figure 1: Personal Influence Zones
The Personal Influence Scanner (PIS) Element’s diagram, as shown in Figure 1, introduces a new concept aimed at evaluating an individual’s societal influence regarding trust. Before pinpointing a location on the Nkinga Diamond, two spectrums emerge from private and public thoughts. The private reflection produces a score called the Individual Spectrum (IS), which includes Si (spiritual intelligence), CiMi (cognitive intelligence), and Mi (moral intelligence). This IS represents a singular viewpoint without counteraction, leading to what I designate as the Public Spectrum (PS).
Nonetheless, the counterreaction comes from the public and is referred to as the Public Spectrum (PS). The PS includes Ei (emotional intelligence), shaped by CiLi (cognitive intelligence), and overseen by Li (a form of moral intelligence perceived publicly, as detailed in the Personal Reinvention section).
The Mechanics of Personal Influence Zones
PI Zones offer a structured way to analyze an individual’s societal impact through a Personal Influence Scanner (PIS). The PIS evaluates a person’s influence by emitting two spectrums: the Individual Spectrum (IS) and the Public Spectrum (PS).
- Individual Spectrum (IS) includes personal attributes such as spiritual (Si), cognitive (CiMi), and moral intelligence (Mi). It represents a private, undiluted reflection of personal views.
- Public Spectrum (PS) captures the public response, comprising emotional intelligence (Ei) augmented by cognitive (CiLi) and public oversight (Li), offering a counterbalance to the IS.
PI Zones Framework: PUER and CUER
The PI Zones model identifies two significant hexagonal regions:
- Pro-Ultimate Enterprise Region (PUER): Representing balance, PUER signifies harmony between IS and PS with minimal variance. Individuals in this zone exhibit unbiased, consistent behaviors, fostering trust and high performance.
- Contra-Ultimate Enterprise Region (CUER): Defined by skewed IS-PS relationships, CUER highlights contrasting traits such as egocentrism and altruism. This zone underscores areas where personal development or recovery is necessary to achieve alignment and mitigate biases.
Visual Representation and Practical Application
The PI Zones model supports organizational diversity by aligning individual traits within a diamond-shaped framework, creating a natural distribution pattern similar to a bell curve. This distribution reflects how societies and teams function differently, providing insights into the influences shaping decision-making and trust.
The Comfort Zone Insight
Understanding PI Zones also sheds light on the concept of the Comfort Zone1—a state where individuals operate without perceived risk. When a team or an individual’s comfort zone aligns with the CUER, self-recovery (SR) becomes essential to recalibrate for high performance. By encouraging development through PUER, teams can unlock potential and foster sustainable growth.
Conclusion
PI Zones play a pivotal role in bridging individual differences to empower high-performance teams. By calibrating both personal and public spectrums, the Ultimate Enterprise Model harnesses these insights to align organizational goals with human behavior.
